2026 Season Opener - What's Biting

2026 Is Going to Be a Great Year

The mild winter has the bay ecosystem in fantastic shape heading into spring. Water clarity is excellent in the upper reaches of the bay, and we're already seeing good numbers of trout stacking up on the reefs.

Current Conditions

Water temps are running slightly above average for this time of year, which means the spring transition is coming early. We're seeing:

  • Redfish - Excellent. Slot reds on every trip.
  • Speckled Trout - Good and improving. Limits on calm days.
  • Black Drum - Peak season right now. Big numbers around the jetties.
  • Sheepshead - Bonus fish around structure. Great eating.

Looking Ahead

Shark season kicks off in May, and early indicators suggest a strong year for blacktips along the beachfront. Tarpon typically arrive in June - we'll have trip dates posted soon.

Spring break slots are filling fast. If you're planning a family trip to Galveston, book your charter now to lock in your preferred date.
