Galveston Shark Fishing - Seasonal Guide
Shark Fishing in Galveston - Season by Season
The Gulf of America off Galveston is home to over a dozen shark species, and our captains know exactly where to find them throughout the year.
May - June: The Blacktip Blitz
As water temps climb past 72 degrees, blacktip sharks flood the beachfront following schools of mullet and menhaden. This is our busiest and most action-packed shark season. Expect multiple hookups per trip with sharks averaging 4-5 feet.
July - August: Bull Shark Season
Mid-summer brings the big boys. Bull sharks move into the nearshore waters and jetty systems. These are powerful fish that put serious bend in the rod. Average size is 5-7 feet with occasional 8-footers.
August - October: Hammerhead Time
The crown jewel of Galveston shark fishing. Great and scalloped hammerheads patrol the passes and beachfront. These are the most photogenic sharks we catch and provide unforgettable fights.
Year-Round: Bonnethead & Spinner Sharks
Bonnetheads and spinner sharks are present from April through November. They're excellent fighters on light tackle and perfect for families and first-time shark anglers.
All sharks are catch-and-release. We practice responsible shark fishing with circle hooks and quick release protocols.
