Inshore Fishing Guide - Galveston Bay Essentials
Inshore Fishing in Galveston Bay
Galveston Bay is a world-class inshore fishery. With over 600 square miles of productive water, there's always somewhere to find fish regardless of conditions.
Spring (March - May)
The spring warming trend triggers a feeding frenzy. Speckled trout move onto the mid-bay reefs and shoreline grass. Redfish push into the back lakes and marsh drains. This is our most consistent season for mixed bags.
Summer (June - August)
Early morning trips are king. We launch at first light to beat the heat and capitalize on the topwater bite. By mid-morning, we're drifting live croaker over shell for limits of trout. Summer also brings excellent flounder gigging opportunities on night trips.
Fall (September - November)
The fall run is arguably the best time to fish Galveston Bay. Bull redfish push through the passes in massive schools. The flounder run in October-November concentrates fish along the ICW and in the passes. Trophy trout are caught on the full moon tides.
Winter (December - February)
Winter fishing is underrated. Black drum stack up around the jetties. Redfish hunker down in back lakes and are accessible on warm days. Fewer boats on the water means more fish for you.
