Monster Redfish Slam - January Report

What a Way to Start the Year

January kicked off with a bang on Galveston Bay. We put our anglers on over a dozen slot redfish in West Bay, working the shoreline grass flats on an incoming tide.

The bite started early, right around sunrise, with topwater action on She Dogs. By mid-morning we switched to live shrimp under popping corks and the black drum showed up in force. Our group landed five keeper black drum between 14-18 inches alongside the reds.

Tackle That Worked

  • MirrOlure She Dog - bone/silver
  • Live shrimp under Cajun Thunder cork
  • Berkley Gulp! shrimp on 1/8 oz jighead

Water temps are sitting around 58 degrees, which is prime for redfish in the back lakes. If you want in on this action, book now - January and February are our best months for trophy redfish.
